Fairhust Cup 2017
Dan Talmage winner of the Fairhurst Cup with Club Captain Steve Burton
There was a thrilling finish to one of the oldest club competitions in Berkshire this weekend. Two days and 36 holes could not separate Dan Talmage and Laurence Berry who both finished with a combined net total of 132, Dan having shot net 68 and net 64 for his total and Laurence shooting net 65 and net 67 for his.Steve Kayll was the next best with a total of 65+70=135.
Day one produced some fine scores by Andrew Price (net 61) Kevin Rowe (net 63) but they couldn’t quite find the same scores for day two.
The Fairhurst Cup, in the end, had to be decided by a four hole play off over holes 1, 11, 12 & 13 when both held their nerve to play some fine golf. In the end the steady golf of Dan Talmage under pressure saw him hole a 4 footer on the last play off green (13th) to overcome Laurence Berry and lift the trophy.
