The Men's Mail on Sunday Team defeat Sherfield Oaks

The Mail on Sunday team were successful in the 2nd Round on Sunday in what started as quite chilly wintery conditions.

The opposition of Sherfield Oaks had a very well balanced team with a +1 handicapper through to a 9 handicapper all of which were very competent golfers.

Three of the N&C team were giving shots, Bradders giving 5 to a very good ball striking South African and was 2 down early on but dug deep to pull a win out of the bag.

Sam Medway faced tough competition and a birdie on the last sealed a deserved half.

Harry Bowness was dominant throughout his match securing a 3up lead through 4 holes which was never relinquished.

The match ended 2 ½ - 2 ½ and so it was to a sudden death playoff for the last match out, George Todd Vs their +1 handicapper.

I will not do his birdie on the 19th justice to secure our win and I am sure knowing George he will be happy very happy to run you through it.

It was described to me as a pulled drive into the trees left down the first, half a backswing and aiming at the tower on the common to produce a ‘Bubbaesq’ hook onto the green to 25ft and then holing the putt for a win, only toddy!

Well done to the whole team of Wayne Fowler, Sam Medway, Harry Bowness, Mark Bradford and George Todd, we march on!

The next match is at home against Oxford City Golf Club
