Golf course Open, buggies permitted (updated 28 March at 06:38)

Wednesday 17th June saw 88 golfers from 38 different clubs assemble at Newbury and Crookham Golf Club for their annual Seniors Open.  The competition was played in fine weather but most players found the hard bounce and slick greens difficult to contended with. The overall winner with 37 pts was Graham Geddes from Romsey GC.  The best 70's prize went to John Hughes of North Oxford with John Hornsey of Temple and Jim Mitchell of Studley Wood winning the visitors over and under 16 hcp prizes respectively.  The Newbury and Crookham Senior's Cup was won by Haydn Girvin with 34 pts and the nearest the pins by Tom Ponton of Newbury and Crookham and Terry Baker of North Hants GC. The 5 hole par 3 challenge was won by Peter Jones of the Downshire GC in 16 shots.  The challenge competition also raised £300 for "Naomi House and & Jack's Place", hospices for children and young adults.
