The Fairhurst Cup, one of Newbury & Crookham Golf Clubs most coveted prizes, was played for over two days this weekend with the field being cut for the second day to the top 54 players and ties. The cut was made at 74 giving 55 competitors the chance to do battle in reverse score order for the final round.

There were some notable scores over the two days with Kevin Dunks, Andy Charlick and Harry Bowness each scoring net 65’s on day two. Consistency over two days however, is the key to winning the Fairhurst Cup and with scores of net 66 on day one followed by net 68 on day two for a tournament total of 134 was good enough for Sean Curry to win the 94 year old trophy. Harry Bowness (73+65=138), Martin McAuley (70+68=138) and promising junior Simon Mead (67+71=138) were all tied for second place.
