Captains' Charity Day 2015
Gill and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people that were involved in making our Charity Day the success that it was.
From those that played in the day, those that came to the evening function, those that donated prizes for the tombola or gave auction items to those that helped on the day, our sincere thanks go out to you all. Your support and generosity meant that we achieved results far beyond our expectations.
The total amount raised on the day was just shy of £8000 that will benefit our chosen charity of Naomi House and Jacksplace.
Once again many thanks for your support and generosity.
Jim Farrell and Gill Myers
The Captains' Charity Day was a huge success and raised more than £7500.00 for Naomi House and Jacksplace. One hundred and seventy six competitors tee'd off between 7:50pm until 3:00pm which did cause a slight worry as to whether we would make the timings for the presentation, sitting down to eat and the singer performing her set. We needn't have bothered, thanks to all the teams playing in good time we were able to get the presentation done bang on time. Thanks to a glitch with the microphone John's speech was cut short and we managed to get everyone sat down on time to eat too....happy days.
Seriously now, the scoring was fantastic and the team of John Martin, Joel Martin, Philip Piper and Ashley Ilott scored an amazing 100pts, Graham Gee, Sean Oakley, Tommy Douglas and Clive Reed were 2nd with 94pts, third place with 93pts were Paul Yeo, Andy Charlick, Ed Clintworth and Andrew Hughes, our Captain, 'England International ' and fast becoming a local celebrity Jim Farrell, Nick Dalton, Steve Lewington and Sam Line were 4th after a countback and the Watson's and Thorogood's were 5th with 92pts.
The Nearest the pin prizes were won by the following;
3rd Hole Tony Martindale & Norma Kirby, 6th Hole Darren Ditum & Irene Witts, 9th Hole Andrew Lochead & Mandy Burton, 15th Hole Greg Humphreys & Mandy Burton and the 17th Hole Nigel Priest & Mary Wyatt.
