Captains' Charity Day 2016
On a day when the weather wasn't great but could have been a whole lot worse the scoring was pretty good and spirits were high.
Ahead of the day the forecast had been heavy rain for most of the day accompanied by 40 mph gusts of wind and maybe a touch of thunder and lightning so although those that were out in the worst of the conditions may not agree, I think we got away lightly!!
Your Captain and Lady Captain worked very hard to organise the day and were extremely grateful for the hard work put in on the day by the volunteers to make sure that it ran very smoothly.
The day was obviously all about supporting the charity chosen by your Captains' and that is Priors Court School which works on building a future for young people with Autism. During the day your amazing effort raised approximately £6000. That total was made up of the day's entry fee, the tombola run by Simon Creffield, beat the pro thanks to James Foster, the putting competition, spot the ball thanks to Paul Sievers, the charity parking space raffle and the proceeds from the hut where the food was donated by Norma Kirby and all those that went to the trouble of making the delicious cakes for the day. Dean Mavis also did a fine job with the auction in the evening.
