Welcome to the latest edition of Membership News

New Member recruitment.

Every year we have players either moving away from the area or deciding not to renew membership. We have a great club and have a very healthy waiting list for new members seeking to join. We are processing new member appointments and this will bring us to our desired maximum membership, including Juniors, Associate and Full members. Our waiting list is still at a good level and over the coming months we will be introducing new initiatives to communicate effectively with individuals on it.
We must ensure that players on the waiting list feel valued pending their appointment and to this end we are looking to engage them through at least the following: –
i) An invitation to play an introductory round with the Management team and volunteer Club members.
ii) Afternoon/evening “coffee” sessions where we can get them talking with each other and feel part of the Club.
In this way they will have a kick start when they are appointed.

First impressions count

We all know that first impressions are very important. The Management Committee is addressing two specific areas to improve our position:
General Office redecoration
Thanks to Committee member Paul Walden who is driving the refurbishment of our first point of contact – our General Office. Paint colours have been chosen and work will commence in October.
The entrance to the club will be significantly enhanced. This project includes landscaping, signage, and electrics. Work is likely to commence in January 2026. Members will be invited to contribute to the cost with details to be announced imminently,

Your Handicap (a reminder how it works)

Quarterly, the committee invites members to apply for an increase in their handicap if their circumstances justify the request. For example, they may have sustained an injury or have fallen ill or have other appropriate reasons. When they return from any necessary absence, they are generally required to submit 3 cards and if their scores are not in line with their previous form an adjustment to their handicap may be approved by the committee.
Like it or loathe it there is the W.H.S (World Handicapping System) in place to calculate your handicap and the more cards you submit should result in a true measure of your handicap.

Sponsorship development

The Membership & Customer Experience Working Group is developing a range of tiered sponsorship offerings to generate incremental revenue for the Club.
A new Working team has been formed to develop our “go to market strategy” building upon the excellent work of David Gale in this area. The team currently comprises David Gale, David Ashworth and Les Francis and we are looking for a member volunteer to join our team. If you have marketing and/or sales experience and would like to get involved in this exciting new initiative, get in touch with Les Francis.

Hole numbering, Slope, score cards and course signage

We will soon be introducing new hole signage, indexing and score cards. The switch over date and changes to tee markers are being planned so watch out for further notification in the Friday Roundup.

Town Hall meeting to review Clubhouse development

In order to keep members up to date with the work of the Clubhouse Development Working group, a “Town Hall” meeting will be held in the near future. More detail to follow.
