The annual Roses Match between the men’s 19+ section & the Ladies Bronze Division was played in fine weather on Sat 8 Sep. Some last minute reserves were needed for the men ( thank you Harvey & Colin) . The Ladies competed well, with all the matches going to at least the 16th, but the men were 4-0 winners. This did not detract from a very convivial meal afterwards.
On Sunday a fine win in the Pellows cup for Hillary Blackwell & Jason Burton with a net 64. They were a last minute scratch pairing, newish member Jason winning in his first competition !
Liz Draper & Paul Walden were a very creditable second with net 66.5
I reported last week that Harry Bowness had done extremely well to qualify for the knockout stages of the West of England Championship. Newbury & Crookham have previous success in this competition with Christopher Ball and David Rosier both having won it.
Harry did very well to qualify for the knockout and won his first round to get through to the last 16 where his run unfortunately came to an end.
Well done Harry, keep up the good golf!
