Following a night when the rain fell heavily the golf course performed incredibly well. The green received an early morning cut and putted very smoothly all day.

Twenty two teams took part starting from every tee, with some tee’s doubled up, in a 9am shotgun start. Separate prizes were awarded for men and ladies with the nearest the pin prizes on the 3rd and the 6th. Louise Willson was closest for the ladies on the 3rd with her tee shot coming to rest only 2m 94 inches from the pin. On the 6th hole, Nick Poole struck a lovely tee shot to within 17 inches of the hole and must have thought that would be good enough, and I am sure it would have been if Colin Sturgess hadn’t have holed his tee shot. I was lucky enough to be partnering Colin and watch the whole thing, even saw the ball drop in from the tee. It was a fantastic shot that spun back into the hole. Well done Colin!!!

The overall competition was fourball betterball with separate prizes for men and ladies. The ladies competition was won on count-back by Barbara Lamb and Miwa Beer with 35pts with 16 on the back 9, from Louise Willson and Kerry Barlow who had the same overall score but 15pts on the back 9.
