Newbury & Crookham GC held a family fun day on Saturday afternoon with over 200 local people enjoying a fantastic display of golf trick shots, games, face painting and live music.
The live music was provided by the multi-talented, Newbury & Crookham Club Professional Barry Newman who ran through a few upbeat summer songs to get the crowds in the mood.
The fun day was open to members, guests, and non-members and the turn out was much greater than expected. The highlight of the afternoon was an amazing trick shot display by World Trick Shot Champion/British Long Drive Champion Paul Barrington with shots being hit off bricks, from tees higher than waist height, balls being hit left and right-handed and hitting around 300 yards whilst kneeling.
Paul’s humour and the crowd interaction made the show a great success. The Club catering team, Mocha Choc, put on a amazing ‘huge’ Paella as well as other tasty specials making sure everyone attending was suitably fed and watered.
The day was such a resounding success plans have already started for the next celebration day.
The Captain and Lady Captain, who are supporting West Berkshire homeless as their Charity for the year were overwhelmed by the success and said ‘the feel good ‘vibe’ on the day was amazing’.
