Message from Vice Captain’s Ken Kenyon and Cilla Osgood

Dear Members

Firstly our thanks go to Keith Watson and Louise Wilson who, as club captains, have done and continue to do a great job in exceptional circumstances. Golf may not be played at the moment but committee meetings, as ever, still continue.

As Vice Captains, we are both looking forward to the coming season and want to provide the information you need for your diaries on 2021 upcoming competitions and events.

Just like every other year the coming year is one where we will be playing the game we all enjoy, at times love, maybe momentarily hate and every emotion in-between, Golf!!
Think about it for a moment, warm sunshine, polo shirts, good company, stood on the first tee waiting in anticipation of starting with a magnificent drive or nervously wondering what might happen in the next few minutes. It’s not too far away.

At the moment there may be uncertainties as to when we start and whether it is in two, three or four-balls but we will be playing. Last year golf proved to be one of the multi player sports which opened first and closed last. Throughout the year the Club adapted to regulations and evolved new procedures to enable safe golf to proceed, safe golf is and will remain a priority.

Looking forward we’ve put together a provisional schedule of Competitions and Events (see attached), there’s something in it for everyone who enjoys competition and / or playing in social events. We’ve also tried to make sure that we leave enough time free for those who just want to play social golf at weekends. There will of course be the usual seasonal competitions such as four-ball knockouts, the weekly roll-ups and Barry Newman and Ken will welcome you to take part in the Captain and Pro competition.

We’ll be playing as soon as we’re able so in the meantime, stay safe, stay well and keep up the carpet putting…..

Best wishes

Ken Kenyon & Cilla Osgood
